Welcome Back Veterans (WBV) was created to inspire Americans to give back to our returning veterans and their families. These heroes were there when we needed them--they served us all and kept us safe--and it's our turn to be there for them. WBV is committed to transforming the lives of our returning veterans by changing the way people think and talk about Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) while providing ongoing treatment for veterans and their families in addition to funding research.
Hundreds of thousands of American veterans, home from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, at times cannot access basic treatments and get the support needed to enable them to transition back into civilian life.
The mental health issues they face are well documented, but too many people still don't know about PTSD--or what we can do to assist these great men and women.
By giving everyday Americans the tools they need to make a difference, creating a national network of clinics to provide the best care to those who deserve nothing less, and funding groundbreaking research to limit the scope of PTSD, WBV is committed to supporting our returning heroes.
All of us can play a part. It's our turn to serve.
To date, Welcome Back Veterans has raised more than $3.9 million for our courageous veterans and their families. An additional $2 million in matching funds (first $4 million raised matched at 50 cents on the dollar) was provided by the McCormick Foundation, totaling nearly $6 million available to address challenges of mental health injuries and employment for vets. Recently, more than $2.9 million in first round grants was awarded to 12 nonprofit organizations across the nation. For a complete record of the grants awarded please click here.
