It's a thrill to be able to launch our new site just before the 4th of July weekend -- a time when millions of people, all across the country, will be thinking about and celebrating our brave veterans.
But it's not enough just to honor the men and women who have risked so much to protect us -- we also have an obligation to support their transition back to civilian life. And at Welcome Back Veterans, we're focused on two areas where our help is most urgently needed: mental health and employment.
Here at WelcomeBackVeterans.org, there are lots of ways you can do your part and help make sure that every returning veteran gets the care he or she deserves from this country:
- Visit our newsroom for the latest press releases and media clips or check out our blog to find get updates from the WelcomeBackVeterans.org staff. You can even sign-up to receive email notifications.
- Share your story - as a veteran yourself, a family member or loved one of a veteran, or simply a grateful American expressing your thoughts - about American veterans coming home from overseas zones of conflict. Our new site is structured to showcase your stories, facilitate shared dialogue, and help you invite others to get behind our movement.
- Help Welcome Back Veterans by making an online contribution today. For every dollar you give for veterans' mental health and employment services, Welcome Back Veterans adds a $.50 match -- so your $50 donation means $75 going to help our veterans, your $100 equals $150, and so on. We want to welcome our veterans home, together, with you.
